We start the game with all of us under water save Elijah who is trying to battle the entire army in the tower. Nadia has come to a gate and is trying to open the gate with a knife. Above her is dark figure.
We open the gate and bust through the surface of the water. Niko dives back into the water for some reason. Elijah is missing. Niko emerges with limp skeleton with a key clinched tightly in its finger tips. A hole in its head looks like it was made by a pick axe that was used to kill the zombie that was hanging in the tower. It appears that it was the skeleton that opened the gate for us.
We move out of the structure when we exited. We see green smoke coming from the tower. Tristan scouts the soldiers and determines that they have Elijah. Niko and I decide to go after them and pick them off one by one. Niko changes into a large wolf in front of the rest of the group and runs off. I decide to shadow him and help where I can. The rest of the group continues on towards Gerard estate in Falcovia.
I keep my distance as I watch Niko struggle with his continence whether he should attack or give up for now. Niko seemed to change his mind and sniffs as he passes me back towards the rest of the party. We catch up continue to the Gerard estate.
We come to a lake and are passing by a ledge near the edge of the lake we see a couple down the side of the slope looking out over the lake. We head down the hill to talk to them at which point they join the party. Their names are Wren and Raligh.
1. The first shard to be found is at the Gerard Estate just across the border in western Falkovnia. It was built about ten miles north of the main road on the southern shoreline of Lake Tyrene, the smallest of the water clusters that exist on the Demenleu, Falkovnia border. The estate lies on the outskirts of the province of Toern. The owner and proprietor of the estate is a woman named Raquel Gerard. Raquel is widowed and the former wife of a retired archeologist and collector of rare items named Dominique Gerard III. He inherited most of his money, and is the third generation to occupy this home since it was built. He found the shard during an excavation 2 years before he died and it is currently placed on exhibit in the viewing hall of the west wing along with other rare items. Raquel has honored his life achievements by keeping the estate in the condition is was in when he passed, despite her obvious dislike for his profession. Due to her constant paranoia that everyone is out to steal her fortune, she keeps the estate heavily guarded day and night. Raquel is worth about 1.2 million in gold including her estate, assets and inheritance.
We move down to the dock where the ferry arrives and we engage the guards in battle. Darien kills one guard and is injured by his own pipe bomb and loses consciousness during a fight with the other guard. After the battle Tristan gives me a potion to restore my health to consciousness plus some. I get two more potions in the tower and change my cloths into guard garb. I roll a d20 to see if I have any new mutations and rolled a 20 with a 10 Humana boost. I am nearly back up to full health and head out onto the ferry.
We come to a island with sheer cliffs. We find our way around to an opening where someone signals us with a light and then blows the horn on us. We enter a large open area with 4 guards two on either side of the opening. I had lay on the bottom of the boat and did not get shot initially. As the battle went on, I killed one guard and was made unconscious by another.
Sometime later, Wren heals me and I appear to be next to a gate outside where a trap door is open in the ground with a loud hissing and growling noise coming from the pit. I move behind the metal door and see two skin rippers emerge from the pit. I rush down the stairs to the ferry to get my musket where I find Niko lying dead on the floor with a bullet wound in his head. I loot his body and grab my musket. When I get back up to the top of the stairs, I get the attention of the skin rippers and run back down the stairs where head one way on the stairs and they head the other. I go back up the stairs and use a grapple to get over the gate. I shoot Raligh because I believe that he is a liability. He did not help us when we were in need and acted against us several times. I finish him off with my dagger and head towards the estate.
We get to the estate and I walk into the front door and meet a new guy named Brother Robert Grenaius who seems to have some magical abilities and holy symbols on him. The rest of the group moves into the building and Agawd has a minor altercation with Robert. Agawd walks into the joining room and Robert follow then Nadia, then Darrien, then Wren. Nadia and I see Agod come out from between the stairs and I follow him towards the stairs. A large painting of a man is no the wall. Wren comments that it is the late Mr Garrard. Robert comes out from between the stairs and again warns Agawd not to proceed. Wren tries diplomacy and calms Robert down and so Robert just follows Agawd to make sure he does not over step his bounds and I follow just for fun. Wren moves towards an ornate door and hears something on the other side of the door. I move to the door and listen and hear breathing. Soon we hear the door latch an footsteps move away from the door. End Day 1
Sat 12/12/2009
We move upstairs and see a map at then end of the hall. There is a door on the right side of the hall that we have Tristan unlock and inside we find an aquarium inside with a strange half tiger half dolphin creature laying inside. On the floor of the tank are 3 fist sized stones the emit a soft blue glow. I examine the little door next to the tank which ends up being an access door for servants to feed the fish. I head down the hall and see a mirror on the wall with an unlit candle at the base of the mirror and a note on it that says, “do not touch”. Engraved on the top of the mirror are the words “spirit within”. Suddenly back from the room with the aquarium I hear a scream. I run back down to the room and Tristan is in the tank and being attacked by the creature. I see Nadia hitting the glass with her dagger. I yell, “stand back!” and fire my musket at the glass. It only chips the glass. Three guards hear the shot and come running. They ask what is going on and I tell them that a man has fallen into the tank. Two run into the room and one stays in the hallway. As the guards are surveying the tank they identify Tristan and turn to fight. Nadia intimidates the guy in the hallway and he drops his crossbow. I toss a pipe bomb into the aquarium room in hopes that it breaks the glass on the aquarium. It makes a critical hit and does 11 damage. It does not break the glass and somwhat upsets the individuals that were in the room when the bomb went off. I kill one of the guards in the room and Robert charges me because of the damage he I caused him. He and the two other guards attack me and lose consciousness.
I later awake to a new face Aizen appears to have given me a healing potion. I thank him for healing me and explain to him our situation at which point he joins our party and we make our way to where we last saw Agawd. We find a statue of a beautiful woman carved in blue marble. Wren gives us some history about it. In short, there is some magic words that legend says will essentially summon the statue to the summoner. When the summoner is in danger, the statue will aid the sommoner until it is either destroyed or the summoner is no longer in danger. If the summoner is not in danger than it will attack the summoner. We exit the room with the statue and then move up to the hallway into a room with a big telescope and a spiders egg-sack in a cabinet. In the corner of the room there is door. We move through the door and out onto a terrace where we find a fruit tree that has about 30-40 fruit hanging from the branches, The fuit will satisfy your hunger for 24 hours and the nutrition of 3 square meals. Eating one entire fruit is the equivalent of drinking an entire bottle of wine. Near the door, there is a greenhouse out on the terrace. We enter and there are many plants in there, at the other end of the greenhouse there is a set of doors and we proceed through them. Throught the far set of doors is a couridor that wraps around and down and brings us back into the hall with the mirror.
I examine the mirror more closely and light the candle. An image appear in the mirror of a non-emotional face that says:
Questions are abundant
Yet answers are so rare
You put your faith in others
Yet too few really care
You search in endless wonder
When suddenly its clear
One truth will be revealed
Within the magic mirror
After consulting the rest of the group, we decide to ask, “What is the cure for the curse of the blesthemthia?” The image answers, “Those with the curse will die from the curse.” and vanishes. The mirror turns to dust. Disheartened, I see that Robert has rejoined the group and I relate our plight to him as we continue to make our way down the hall.
We come across what appears to be a wishing well which we find out the water within will allow the drinker to breath under water. I fill two flasks full of the water and move on. We come to two doors one leads down some stairs and the other is metal and locked. We try to open the metal door with several sets of keys we found on the guard bodies. None of them work. Wren yells from downstairs and asks Tristan to come down with the keys. They open the door and find a box with a vial of green liquid inside.
*The box is heavier than it looks and very smooth to the touch. The inside is lined in an emerald green satin cloth. Cradled within the cloth, sitting in a made to fit wooden mold, is a beautiful crystal bottle. It is clear, about six inches in length, and topped with an ornate stopper. The bottle is a little over three quarters of the way full. The liquid inside is a pale blue in color.
I head back up the stairs to join the others. We find them making their way down the hall. At the end of the hall is a door and to the right is a door with that leads to the guest rooms. We continue through the door at the end of the hall that opens into the library. There is another door in the library. We go through it and it opens into a bedroom. On the far wall is a bed and on either side of the bed are doors. Agawd checks out the left side and Wren checks out the right. Left balcony, Right bathroom. I give Wren my belt and ask her to tell me the password for the pockets. Midnight goes by and I get a new affliction from my curse.
1. Aggression DC24 – You find yourself starting to feel more temperamental in situations that previously would have not stirred your emotions. You feel the urge to become physical and violent during verbal conflict regardless of how mundane it might be. Symptom lasts for 1D8 days. I roll a 2 which means 2 days of aggression.
Nadia yells that she found a key from the bedroom in the library. Agawd ran and grabbed the key and headed to the metal door in the hallway. He opens it and we all spill through along a path to a building outside. Two guards are at the entrance to the building and Agawd kills one of them and the other drops his weapon and tells us we will not make it off of the island alive. As we enter the building, we walk through a 5 foot wide hallway and look into a room that appears to be empty. Near the entrance, there is a panel with a lever behind it. When the lever is pulled down, a metal door closes and some pedestals in the room rise. I man the lever while everyone but Nadia and myself go inside. I close the door and Nadia talks to the tied up guard in an attempt to find a way safely off the island. Time passes as the individuals in the building search the room. Nadia frees and walks off with the guard. I inform the rest of the party of her actions. Shortly thereafter, I hear a gunshot and a clicking sound. Agawd shot one of the boxes and the pedestals receded into the floor and the large metal door at the end of the room opened. I run to the door and ask what is going on. They scream at me to open the door. I try the lever and it is stuck. I run back to the door and tell them that he lever is jammed and ask them to try the key. It does not work. A giant 9 foot automaton emerges from the door. The giant is clad in iron plate armor. Tristan drinks the potion the picked up earlier and gets younger and seems to get amnesia. I suggest summoning the statue we encountered earlier (get 200xp). They summon the statue and it fights the giant. I talk to Tristan for a bit and he runs off deeper into the room. A few minutes later the gate begins to rise. Agawd and Tristan run out and I run back in to help drag out the wounded. Once out, Agawd closes the gate on Robert. I yell at Agawd to open the gate because Robert is still in there and I run to the gate. I look in and see a mist. I assume the worst and walk out of the building and off towards where I saw Nadia walk off with the guard.
Chris gets really upset that his characters keep dieing starts to state his case. Bonnie starts to tell him that everyone is not against him and that his is being childish. Chris gets in a argument with Bonnie. Johnny says that he doesnt want to DM games if they are going to be like this because they are not fun for him and a waste of time if everyone is not having fun. He cant please everyone. Bonnie stomps off cursing at Chris and says she wont come down until Chris leaves. Chris asks me to take him to his inlaws house and walks out the front door. I pack up my stuff and get ready to leave. We tell Johny that we would still like to play even if Chris does not want to continue. Andrew invites me to join his game if I am interested and I tell him it sounds like fun. Until next time…
